A man was shot dead in the capital of the province of Cordoba in the context of a trial for an alleged sexual abuse of a daughter, the daughter of a lifer. Additionally, his wife and son were injured in the attack. However, investigators believe the attackers were not after him, but his stepson.

“Supposedly, they came to do justice to a neighbor for abusing a girl. They came straight for the kill. I was very scared because they left threatening the neighbours,” he said.

The victim was identified as Mario Alvarenga, but the investigators consider that it was not the one that the murderers were looking for; on the contrary, the real target of the attack could have been the 20-year-old son of the victim’s wife who was accused of committing alleged child sexual abuse and who was not at home. Some time after the crime, it was learned that this young man would go out with the girl’s mother.

According to information from telam, the girl is the daughter of a prisoner who is serving her sentence in a local jail and is believed to be the one who planned the attack. In addition, the deceased’s companion was shot five times, three in the abdomen and two in the legs, while her son was shot in one of his legs.

It was the woman’s daughter who immediately transferred her to a health center to receive the necessary care and thus be able to save her life. During the first hours, they managed to stabilize her, but she remained hospitalized with the possibility of undergoing surgery due to the severity of the injuries caused by the impacts. However, once her health improved, she was released.

The assassins, meanwhile, fled after firing. So far, their identity is unknown and they are still on the run. For this reason, District 2 Investigative Prosecutor Victor Chiapero, who is leading the case, ordered that procedural proceedings begin to track down the attackers.

Thus, he also requested that a search be carried out in the Bouwer Prison Unit where the father of the allegedly abused minor identified as Gabriel Giménez is serving a sentence.
