Shanghai.- The Chinese health authorities reported today the detection, this Monday, of 24 new cases of covid in the country, of which 15 were produced by local contagion in the southern province of Yunnan, place of the last regrowth registered in their country.

In that region, 63 local infections have already been detected since last Tuesday, all of them in the town of Ruili, on the border with Burma, in which a testing campaign has begun on its entire population, of about 300,000 inhabitants.

The other 9 new cases announced today are “imported”, that is, of travelers arriving from other countries, and were detected in Shanxi (north, 4), Shanghai (east, 2), Guangzhou (southeast, 2) and Jiangsu ( east, 1).

In addition, health authorities also reported today the detection of 17 new asymptomatic infections, two of them, by local contagion in Yunnan province, although Beijing does not include them as confirmed cases unless they manifest symptoms.

The total of these types of infections under observation is 304, of which 277 are “imported.”

Likewise, the National Health Commission detailed that, until last local midnight (16:00 GMT on Monday), 18 patients were discharged after successfully overcoming covid-19.

Thus, the total number of active infected in mainland China stood at 244, of which two remain in serious condition.

The institution pointed out that, since the beginning of the pandemic, 90,329 people have been infected in the country, among whom 85,449 have managed to heal and 4,636 have died.

To date, 993,919 close contacts with infected people have been followed up, of which 7,773 are still under observation.

Meanwhile, in the semi-autonomous region of Hong Kong, authorities detected 16 new infections, bringing the total to 11,525, with 205 deaths from covid since the start of the pandemic.
