CDMX Police Officers helped deliver Babies, have supported Six Births so far this Year

During the day of Jan 26, Mexico City police assisted in the birth of two babies both in Iztapalapa as in the mayor’s office Alvaro Obregon. So far in the first of the year, the uniformed have collaborated in bringing six newborns to the world in the capital.

It was in the Santa María Tomatlán neighborhood that the agents helped a woman who was in labor. The officers were patrolling the streets of this area when they received the alert from the Control and Command Center, and arrived at Mercurio Street.

“The police officers arrived at the scene and quickly requested medical services, However the 26-year-old future mother presented strong contractions, which indicated that delivery was imminent, so the uniformers took their precautions and put their first aid knowledge into action, ”the Security Secretariat detailed in a statement.

Thanks to the training of the staff, the baby was received successfully and after his first cry, his mother was able to take him into her arms.

In both cases, the relatives thanked the support provided by the uniformed men. 

Finally An ambulance arrived to take the little boy and the mother to a nearby hospital for their complementary medical care, while relatives thanked the intervention of the uniformed men for the support provided.

“It is worth mentioning that So far this month, it is the second birth that occurred in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office where SSC officers have provided support, and it is the sixth baby they receive in their arms., thanks to the timely attention to emergencies ”added the agency headed by Omar García Harfuch.

Another similar action took place in the Álvaro Obregón mayor’s office, when the capital’s agents answered a call for support in a house in the Santa María Nonoalco neighborhood.

Upon arrival, the uniformed officers found that the woman was in the final stage of labor, so they applied their knowledge in labor.

So far this year they have attended six deliveries in the capital. 

“Through the radio frequency, the operators of the Control and Command Center (C2) Poniente, They asked them to go to a house located on Río Becerra and Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca streets”, Specified the police corporation.

Although they requested an ambulance to attend the emergency, They decided to intervene, because the adolescent mother of just 16 years old presented strong contractions and the birth was about to occur. Therefore, the police requested sheets, clean towels, as well as soap and water from the relatives.

“In this way, thanks to his knowledge in first aid and his vocation of service, maneuvered to receive a baby who cut the umbilical cord, removed the placenta, and gave her mother after hearing her first cry, ”described the capital’s Secretary of Security.

The young mother’s loved ones appreciated the support, as they noticed that the police elements were trained to attend the delivery.

Agents are trained to attend birth emergencies. 

“After the birth, the ambulance arrived and The paramedics were in charge of stabilizing the mother and the newborn, and after diagnosing accidental delivery, they were transferred to a hospital where they received specialized medical attention ”.

It should be noted that the personnel of the Security Secretariat are trained in first aid matters and provide support to citizens in any emergency that could put the inhabitants of the capital at risk or danger. Although they are among the first to arrive and channel the event to the experts, they can help while paramedics and ambulances attend.
