MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins have acquired star cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade from the Los Angeles Rams, two people familiar with the deal have told The Associated Press. .
The Rams will receive Miami’s third-round pick in the 2023 draft and tight end Hunter Long, according to the people, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity on Sunday because neither team announced the ‘OK.
Shortly after the transfer was reported in the media, Ramsey posted on social media that Miami was his preferred destination.
“I specifically prayed for this for about a month and now it is happening! GO @MiamiDolphins!” Ramsey tweeted on Sunday.
The Rams went 5-12 last season and missed the playoffs a season after winning the Super Bowl. They made a number of changes to their roster during the offseason. Los Angeles parted ways with veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner last month after one season.
The Rams got Ramsey in a trade midway through the 2019 season after spending the first four seasons of his career in Jacksonville.
Ramsey, a six-time Pro Bowl draft pick, had 77 tackles and four interceptions in the 2021 Super Bowl championship season. Last season, he set a career-high 88 tackles and four interceptions.
