The video of a Nicaraguan migrant boy asking for help from a Border Patrol agent from USA After being abandoned by the group in which he was traveling, it became viral and one more proof of the situation that thousands of minors who travel alone to that country go through, hoping for better living conditions.
The video, recorded on Thursday, April 1, was uploaded on Facebook by agent Anjel Hernandez, who said that a colleague of his was returning home when he found the boy east of the City of Río Grande, on a rural road near La Crane, Texas. It shows how the boy was walking alone and when he saw the Patrol vehicle, he approached.
Through tears, the little boy says to the agent in Spanish: “Can you help me?”
“It’s that I came with a group of people and they dumped me and I don’t know where they are.”, He adds.
The agent asks him if he was not going with his parents. “No, no one,” the migrant replies.
“I came in a group that came on the train and in the end they left me dumped and I came here to ask for help”, refers.
The agent questions him if he was instructed to go to Border Patrol headquarters. “No, I’m coming, because if not, where am I going to go? They can rob me, kidnap me or something. I’m scared”mentions the little one from Nicaragua.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) explained that the boy is 10 years old, comes from Nicaragua and when he woke up, he realized that the group he was traveling with was gone. The minor was taken to the Donna detention center, in Texas, from where he would be transferred to a center of the Department of Health and Human Services.
His family has already been contacted, agent Anjel detailed on social networks and pointed out that according to information from the Patrol, the group in which the boy was traveling consisted of 184 people.
“Scenes like this are too common, as traffickers continue to abandon children in desolate areas, without respect for their well-being ”, a CBP spokesperson told ABC 13.
This Tuesday, CBP reported two siblings: a five-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy, who they found on Monday in a rocky area on the California-Mexico border.
The children were with a man and a woman who later abandoned them and returned to Mexican territory.
The children could only say their names to the agents, but they gave a note with the information of their mother, who has already been located.
