A bus carrying some 50 Ukrainians skidded off the road and overturned in Italy on Sunday, leaving a woman dead and several injured, firefighters and police said.
The accident occurred at dawn on the road between Cesena and Rimini, on the northeastern coast. Images released by the interior minister show the overturned bus and a crane lifting the vehicle.
The bus, coming from Ukraine, was headed for the city of Pescara, the ministry said.
The passengers, mostly women and children, were thought to be fleeing the country following Russia’s military attack, a police source said.
