The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson urged Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday to “take a step back”, insisting that there is still a “chance” to avoid war and has announced that he will travel to Europe this week for meetings on the situation in Ukraine.

Boris Johnson “will address world leaders starting Monday and travel to European countries later this week, in his bid to unite Western allies on the Ukraine situation.”as reported ‘The Telegraph’.

“There is still an opportunity for de-escalation and diplomacy, and the prime minister will continue to work tirelessly alongside our allies to get Russia to back down.” a Downing Street spokesman said.

In addition, the newspaper has explained that the British Foreign Minister, Liz Truss, is launching “war councils”with input from intelligence chiefs and senior diplomats from the British Embassies in Kiev and Moscow.

Truss will also travel to Europe this week and is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday to address the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on global security.

“Britain has helped lead international work on the crisis and Liz Truss thinks that is hugely important. We were too absent during Crimea in 2014, which she sees as a mistake that we cannot and are not repeating.”Has mentioned ‘The Telegraph’ citing sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Boris Johnson announced last week that around 1,000 more British troops would be ready in the UK to support a humanitarian response in the region, should the need arise.

Leaders across Europe are stepping up diplomatic efforts in recent days to de-escalate tensions in Ukraine.
