Until 2019, in Bogotá there were more than 114,000 stray animals, including dogs and cats, a discouraging figure for those who consider themselves the best company at home, that is why the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, from the Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare (IDPYBA), organized for this Saturday, virtually due to the strict quarantine in the city, a free adoption journey to start the process of giving a better life to these pets.

The event will take place through a Facebook Live on the Institute’s profile at 3:00 pm, so it is not necessary to register either, so if you want to join, these are the steps you must follow:

– In the live broadcast you will be able to know the dogs and cats that are ready to be adopted.

– Then you can choose the one you want.

– Communicate to WhatsApp that they will give in the transmission and continue with the process and there they will notify you when and where to pick it up.

“We want to remind all the inhabitants of the Capital District that from the Institute we advance permanent virtual days for the adoption of canines and felines. Next Saturday the 17th from three in the afternoon, through a Facebook Live, we will be holding a special adoption day that we have called ‘Carry your virtual footprint’,” expressed Adriana Estrada, director of IDPYBA.

You can also advance the choice of the mascot knowing the catalog that the District has. “This Saturday we launched the first virtual day of animal adoption, where our online advisors will help you with the process. Don’t miss our Facebook Live and check the catalog here-> https://app.ciudadano4patas.com/adopciones/”.

There are mostly dogs and they are between the first year and 12, in addition there are specifications about their behavior and some requirements. There are also pets that have lost their limbs. Cheer up!

Some airlines give the option of traveling with your pet in the cabin, but this must be arranged in advance from the contact center or a sales office. This benefit can cost between $70,000 and $110,000.

While it is true that these requirements may vary, they all agree that your pet must meet a weight limit and the crate must meet specific dimensions in order not to affect the comfort of other travelers.

Companies such as Latam Airlines, Viva Air and Avianca, for example, agree on requirements such as: age of at least eight weeks for the pet to travel with you, have up-to-date vaccinations and a maximum weight that ranges between seven and ten kilograms.

The Superintendency of Transportation highlights that the airlines have the autonomy to decide on the conditions for the travel of pets, and has provided a series of recommendations for them.

Among the suggestions offered by the entity for the holder to travel with his pet is that the companion animal is an emotional support, be it a guide or guide animal, or small domestic dogs and cats.

Another of the warnings made by the Superintendency of Transportation is that the container in which the animal travels does not obstruct the passage of the rest of the passengers. On the other hand, if the pet is going to travel in the hold, it is important to have a suitable crate for its size and it is essential that it meets the airline’s requirement.

Likewise, for pets traveling in the hold, the limit is 45 kilograms, but there are some that only allow animals that do not exceed 20 kilograms.

Some companies such as Avianca make it clear that the weight for animals traveling in the hold will also depend on the duration of the journey: for flights of up to 4 hours the weight will be 20 kilograms and for journeys of up to 5 hours the limit is 10 kilograms .

On the other hand, if it is an international trip, it must be confirmed directly with the Official Veterinary Service of the destination what the requirements are, since they may require a veterinary certificate, vaccination card or other additional documents.

You must remember that if your pet will travel in the hold, in this case, the grill must be metallic.
