KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — U.S. President Joe Biden paid an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Monday to meet with President Volodymr Zelenskyy in a show of solidarity days before the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Biden made the remarks after meeting Zelenskyy at the Mariinsky Palace to announce an additional US$500 million in aid and reiterate to Kyiv the support of the United States and its allies as the conflict continues.
“A year later, kyiv is resisting. And Ukraine resists. Democracy resists,” Biden said.
