A 21-year-old young man died on Saturday night after falling out of a hotel window in the Belgian city of Antwerp when he tried to escape a police checkpoint for having participated in a party in which the measures against him were not respected. coronavirusthe prosecution reported this Sunday.

According to the Belgian agency, the police intervened at the hotel at around 4:00 am (2:00 GMT) after receiving several calls complaining of noise coming from one of the hotel’s rooms.

Police tried to resuscitate the individual before the arrival of emergency services, but he died.

The prosecution will appoint an investigating judge to clarify the exact circumstances of the death.

“I am shocked by the death of a young Antwerp resident last night,” declared the mayor of the city, the Flemish nationalist Bart De Wever, who expressed his “deepest condolences to his family and loved ones”.
