The Omicron variant has caused a stir among the scientific community and health authorities around the world, as this mutation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has been characterized by having several mutations at the same time, a fact that had not been seen in previously identified genomes.
To learn more about it, researchers from the Bambino Gesú hospital , located in Rome , released what would be the first images of this virus, which, in turn, generates some mutations of which 30 have already been identified.
Through social networks, the scientists explained what this strain looks like, which will allow citizens to better understand the reason why it has been considered “worrisome” .
“It is clear that the Omicron variant has many more mutations than the Delta variant, mainly concentrated in an area of the protein that interacts with human cells.”
