Austin FC picked up a 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake

The USA – MLS 2023 week 3 match, played this Saturday, ended 1-2 in favor of the visiting team. The goal of the match for the locals was scored by Justen Glad (21′ 1T). Outside, goals were scored by Jon Gallagher (8′ 1T) and Owen Wolff (32′ 1T).

In the 32nd minute of the first leg, Owen Wolff lifted the spirits of Austin FC and drew plenty of applause. After receiving an assist from Daniel Pereira, the midfielder finished the goal from the middle distance and beat the rival keeper to score a superb goal on the right post.

Austin FC forward Maxi Urruti and Real Salt Lake midfielder Braian Ojeda had no desire to score when their shots finally hit the post.

The party figure was Owen Wolff. The Austin FC midfielder scored 1 goal.

Jon Gallagher was also relevant. The Austin FC defender was important to score 1 goal and get 7 balls out of the danger zone.

Several faults in the midfield force to cut the rhythm of the match. There was only one card, in the 42nd minute of the first half, Damir Kreilach received a yellow card.

Real SL manager Pablo Mastroeni stopped the starting XI in a 4-5-1 formation with Zac MacMath in goal; Andrew Brody, Justen Glad, Marcelo Silva and Bryan Oviedo on the defensive line; Jasper Loeffelsend, Braian Ojeda, Andres Gomez, Damir Kreilach and Jefferson Savarino in the middle; and Rubio Mendez in attack.

For their part, Josh Wolff’s chosen ones entered the field with a 4-5-1 scheme with Brad Stuver under the three sticks; Jon Gallagher, Alexander Ring, Leo Väisänen and Zan Kolmanic in defence; Owen Wolff, Daniel Pereira, Emiliano Rigoni, Sebastián Driussi and Ethan Finlay in midfield; and Gyasi Zardes up front.

Alex Chilowicz was named the main referee for the game at America First Field.
