Buying a new iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max is going to be tricky for the next few months. At least that’s what Apple suggests. The firm has sent a statement warning that Shipments of both models will be lower than previously anticipated due to new COVID-19 restrictions in Zhengzhou, China. Precisely, the city where Foxconn has assembly facilities for both models.
Apple, in particular, warns that the Zhengzhou facilities where the iPhone 14 Pro are manufactured are working “with a significantly reduced capacity”. Consequently, “customers will experience longer waiting times to receive their new products.”
We continue to see strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. However, we now expect lower iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments than we previously anticipated and customers will experience longer wait times to receive their new products.
This drawback, however, does not seem to affect the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. And it is that the main factories of both models are located in India as part of an Apple strategy to reduce its dependence on China.
The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, however, continue to be manufactured at Foxconn’s Zhengzhou facility. They work there, according to The New York Times, 200,000 people. Many of them have also decided to leave their respective jobs due to strict restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections. Among them, that of the obligation to remain in the facilities, despite the fact that the level of food and supplies is quite low, indicates the aforementioned media.
The demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max is greater than that of the iPhone 14
Precisely, the iPhone 14 Pro and the Max version are in higher demand than the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. Apple, in fact, had to inform its suppliers to suspend the additional production of 6 million iPhone 14 scheduled for the second half of 2022. Therefore, the number of models produced is very similar to that of the iPhone 13. from last year.
The new features of the iPhone 14 Pro, such as the Dynamic Island or the 48-megapixel camera, however, seem to have an attractive effect on users looking for a new iPhone. Something that forced the company to ask some of your suppliers to prioritize the manufacture of these models over the cheaper versions.
