At least three people were killed in an explosion on Friday at a mosque in Nangarhar province, eastern Afghanistan, medical sources told the news agency AFP.
“So far we have three dead and 15 injured.” Said a doctor at the local hospital.
According to Taliban sources, the explosion occurred “during Friday prayer inside a mosque in the Spin Ghar district”.
Nangarhar is the main stronghold of the Afghan branch of the Islamic State jihadist group, known as IS-Ka rival of the Taliban, which has claimed responsibility for some of the bloodiest attacks in recent months since the Islamists’ return to power in August.
Among them the one at the Kabul airport, in which more than 100 people died on August 26, and the one perpetrated earlier this month against a Kabul hospital, in which 19 people died.
