A 27 year old drowned dead in the stream trying to find a ball that had fallen into the polluted waters.
The tragic event occurred at the intersection of Carlos Pellegrini and Remedio de Escalada streets, near the Lanús neighborhood of Buenos Aires, a few meters from the Alsina Bridge. Apparently, last Sunday afternoon, a group of people were doing recreational activities in the area, and among them was the man in question playing with a soccer ball.
According to sources from the Ministry of Security of the province of Buenos Aires in Telam Agencythe victim – identified as Javier Aguayos– He threw himself into the water trying to find the ball which had remained on the side of the basin and which disappeared.

It was his partner, a 21-year-old girl who was accompanying him at the time of the accident, who reported the situation to the security forces. A few minutes later they arrived at the place bLanús volunteer firefighters, civil protection personnel from the municipality, police and firefighters from the city of Buenos Aires and the Argentine Naval Prefecture to lead the search operation which included the participation of tactical divers.
After several hours – already in the early hours of this Monday – the members of the Naval Prefecture they found Aguayos’ lifeless body. The body was transferred to the judicial morgue of the party in the southern zone of the suburbs of Buenos Aires.

At the end of January, the Riachuelo was the scene of an event that was about to end tragically. A man who was riding a stolen motorcycle, escaping the police, jumped into the water and ended up hospitalized for having ingested contaminated water.
It all started when police officers from the Immediate Response Patrol of Lanús, who were at the intersection of Gral Olazabal and Pellegrini streets, in the area along the banks of the Riachuelo, Lanús, observed the driver of a motorcycle that had no helmet or license plate. , which is why they asked him to stop walking.
According to police sources, the suspect ignored the request for identification and fled, so the troops began following him in a controlled manner for 15 blocks until they reached the intersection of Osorio and Pellegrini streets until the ascent of the Olympic bridge in the direction of the federal capital, where he got off the motorcycle and continued the escape on foot.
It was then that, seeing the proximity of the police personnel, the man threw himself into the Riachuelo with the aim of swimming across to the side of the Federal Capital but he could not arrive so he had to be helped by the Fire Brigade, who with a rope managed to bring him back to shore.
Moments later, a SAME ambulance arrived and helped the man who had to be transferred to Evita Hospital in Lanús, where he was admitted for ingesting contaminated water.
