A brutal crime has happened in the last hours in the city of Buenos Aires Raphael Castillo, Festival of La Matanza. A 35-year-old police officer stabbed her ex-partner, 29, who had three complaints of gender-based violence and a perimeter restriction. The crime was ruled a homicide justified in self-defence. The young woman was not detained because the man harassed and threatened her on several occasions.

The violent event took place in a house located in Nicolás Dávila in 1700, when Nahuel Cruz Prestianni broke into his ex-spouse’s house through the roof, the police Erica Gimenez, belonging to the UPPL of La Tablada. Prestianni had two previous complaints and a perimeter for gender-based violence. So the man forced the back door of the house and entered. At that point, he began to demand that Giménez give him his cellphone. The woman refused to give it to him.

Prestianni, faced with his ex-girlfriend’s refusal, grows bolder and searches the whole house until he finds her. When he had it in his hands, he threw it furiously against the wall. The man pulled out a knife, threatened to kill Giménez and accosted her. The woman defended herself from the attack and at one point stabbed Prestianni’s gun in one of her ribs. The man fell seriously injured.

After the attack, Giménez called 911. Once at the scene, doctors discovered that Prestianni had died. Thus, the case was left in the hands of the prosecutor. Gaston Duplaahead of the UFI Thematic Murders of La Matanza, who began to investigate the fact.

After Giménez’s statement, prosecutor Duplaá confirmed that Prestianni had already filed three complaints by the woman. The first took place on June 11, when Giménez denounced him and the court imposed a perimeter restriction on him. Then, on February 4, Prestianni walked into Giménez’s house and they got into a fight because the man wanted to check his cell phone. The woman convinced him to lie down to sleep. calmed him down. The next morning, the man insisted and they argued. Giménez then went to the neighborhood police station to file a complaint. Thanks to protocol, they took away his regulation weapon.

Nine days later, the same scene. On February 13, Prestianni entered the house through the roof and asked him to show him who he was talking to on his cell phone. There, he told her that if he didn’t show it to her, he would kill himself. After the threat, he started searching the house and Giménez tried to stop him. They struggled and Prestianni bit his arm. Later, the woman reported him again.

So, this Saturday, history repeated itself, only worse. Prosecutor Duplaá described the fact as justifiable homicide in self-defense and Giménez is free.
