Shortly after 06:00 this Thursday, February 16, 2023, a a magnitude 5 earthquake 178 kilometers southeast of Ciudad Hidalgo in Chiapas according to information from the National Seismological Service (SSN).

Despite the low intensity of the telluric movement, the inhabitants of the state reported via social networks having perceived it at different points of the entity.

In regards to, the National Civil Protection Coordination established communication with state and municipal units in order to make a preliminary assessment, although it remains to be determined whether the telluric movement has left devastation.

Also, in the early hours of this Thursday, at 1:49 am exactly, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake was recorded near Acapulco. Preliminary information said the quake had an epicenter 11 kilometers northwest of the city in Guerrero state with a depth of 25.8 kilometers.
