Whenever a blood test has to be done, you have to go to the laboratory, to the hospital or to have a professional come to your home. Not easy …

The xRblood Pro is an automated blood analysis device driven by artificial intelligence. This is intended to be the first home blood test to provide sufficient accuracy to replace a visit to a dedicated laboratory. This solution could thus save an unimaginable number of hours and save money for patients with chronic diseases, for example.

xRblood Pro, a mobile laboratory for blood tests

Like a conventional lab test, xRblood Pro generates a complete blood test report, with numbers for red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and more, according to xRapid Group, to whom we owe the product. Many patients need to perform such tests frequently, and most often do so in the hospital or laboratory.

Before you jump to the ceiling, know that this device is not yet available to the public, it is currently being tested in clinics and hospitals to obtain the necessary authorizations before, if necessary, it can be offered to a non-target. -professional.

This could make life easier for many patients

The previous xRblood (non-Pro) device shown at CES last year could do this, but this year’s “Pro” version can also perform Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT) at the rate of 100 RDT per minute. These RDTs can be very useful in detecting common illnesses like Covid-19, tetanus, gluten intolerance and others. Certain types of infections are also detectable by this means. The alternative to xRblood Pro would be to have a technician who studies the samples under a microscope.

The business model is quite simple. This will involve selling the device and the consumables – necessary for each test -. Like a printer, if one had to draw a parallel with a well-known electronic accessory. The current version of this device is accessible to family physicians, an intermediate stage before marketing to the general public.

Currently, this mobile lab would cost around $ 2,000 and consumables between $ 5 and $ 50 per unit, depending on the type of test. Figures that will change between now and marketing, of course, but you have an idea of the price positioning. It will therefore be necessary to do its calculations to determine the profitability. One could also quite easily imagine a rental system via hospitals or even pharmacies.

Unsurprisingly, the xRblood Pro won a CES 2021 Innovation Award from the organizers. Note, the company offers other products around health, including the xHale mask.
