On March 10th (local time), TikTok announced the introduction of a function that allows creators to finely control comments on posted content and encourages reconsideration of inappropriate comments when posting.

The first is that all comments will be hidden until the creator approves them. The creators will check each one and only the approved ones will be displayed. Until now, there was a function to filter by keywords etc., but it is an expanded form.

Another feature that encourages reconsideration of comments is to encourage reconsideration of the content of a post that contains inappropriate or unfriendly comments. You’ll be notified that the content you’re trying to post may be in violation of community guidelines, and you’ll be able to edit your comments again.

Similar features have been introduced on Instagram and Twitter has previously tested. It may be becoming a standard in SNS-related fields where you can freely post comments.

In addition, TikTok has been strengthening its efforts related to bullying and privacy since the end of last year, and in November 2020, introduced new privacy settings such as limiting comments to friends for teenage users. In December, we updated our community guidelines to enhance our content on bullying and harassment.
