T-Mobile unveils the figures for its protection system against fraudulent calls. 21 billion phone calls were blocked in 2021.

Every year, tirelessly, we receive a number of fraudulent phone calls. Whether it is scam attempts or simply unwanted calls, these phone solicitations are still very annoying because the numbers are mostly unknown, which means that it is very difficult to know if they are there.

This is a legitimate call or not. Today there are user protection systems. T-Mobile implemented one, and the least we can say is that it works a lot.

T-Mobile reveals figures for its fraudulent call protection system

The American operator T-Mobile is one of the operators working to block these unwanted calls and according to its own figures, during the whole of 2021, the operator would have blocked no less than 21 billion calls, robotic or not, fraudulent. or not, but unsolicited on its network. This is thanks to the dedicated protection service called Scam Shield.

21 billion phone calls were blocked in 2021

According to a statement from Jon Freier, President of Consumer Group at T-Mobile, “Unsolicited call attempts hit record highs in 2021, but with Scam Shield we can identify and block an average of 1.8 billion these calls every month – that’s 700 calls per second – for our T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers. We are the only operator to protect each of our customers with free threat tools like Scam Shield, regardless of their subscription or device. ”

Although 21 billion calls is indeed an impressive number, one cannot help but wonder how many still went under the radar. After all, no system is ever perfect, but the effort is commendable anyway. Jon Freier added:

“We know that the crooks won’t stop until they manage to claim victims, so we are doing everything we can to make it as difficult as possible for them. Scam Shield uses the power of T-Mobile’s network to help keep customers protected in real time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
