Samsung is developing a system with a fingerprint scanner for cards. For payment cards, of course, but not only.
Most US debit cards and credit cards have a PIN so that when you buy something you can enter that PIN to verify your identity. That being said, this your settings, the need to enter this PIN code only exists for transactions above a certain amount.
And if you use the contactless payment option, the PIN code is sometimes not even requested (this is the whole point of this option). Today, all of this needs to be made more secure.

But with these handy situations, someone who stole your card could use it to buy relatively low-value products to avoid having to enter a PIN they don’t know.
And the thief can extract a large sum from your bank account, in many small transactions, before you know it. This is something Samsung hopes to change. The South Korean giant has unveiled a new fingerprint sensor that can be used in payment cards.
For payment cards, of course, but not only
According to Kenny Han, Vice President of Marketing for System LSI at Samsung Electronics, “The S3B512C combines a fingerprint sensor, Secure Element (SE) and Secure Processor, adding an extra layer of authentication and security in payment cards. The S3B512C is primarily thought and designed for payment cards, but it could be used in cards that require a high level of authentication such as student or employee identity verification, some subscription or a access to a building.”
This means that, rather than just verifying the card, the system also verifies the user at the same time, which actually gives better overall security. Unfortunately, the company does not specify that we will be able to see these sensors integrated into our cards, but it must be recognized that it is a very good idea. Hopefully this will happen soon!
