If you take a lot of screenshots on your Windows computer, this change will affect you.

Being the most used desktop operating system in the world, it is not surprising that each and every one of the changes made by Microsoft are analyzed with a magnifying glass by users, and that some of them are not entirely well received. Especially when what they do is to change the operation of options that have been present in the platform for years.

Windows

Something similar happened after the arrival of the new Windows 11 file explorer, and now it has happened again, with a completely different tool.

As we have learned thanks to the Windows Latest portal, Microsoft has decided to remove a mythical Windows feature such as the ability to take a full screenshot with a single tap on the “Print Scr” key on the keyboard.

Microsoft will boost the use of the “Snippets” tool in the next version of Windows
Apparently, the KB5025310 version of Windows 11, available since a few hours ago for users adhered to the beta channel, introduces a change in the operation* of the Print Screen key.

Until now, pressing this key took a screenshot of the entire screen, available to be pasted in any text or image editor, but with the arrival of this new version, this function will be replaced by the Snipping tool that has been present in Windows for several generations.

Thus, by touching this key, instead of saving the image to the clipboard, the Snipping tool will open automatically, adding an extra step to the process of taking a screenshot.

Fortunately, there will be a way to revert the behavior of the Print Screen key to the original. To do so, just access the Windows 11 Settings application, and under the “Accessibility” section, modify the keyboard settings to make the screen capture key serve again to do just that: capture the screen.
