Apple has diversified its activities a lot in recent years. Today, the Cupertino company is far from offering only computers. In its catalog, in particular, a professional monitor, the Apple Pro Display XDR.

Apple products very often occupy a very high price position. This is also verified on the screen offered by the brand. TheApple Pro Display XDR is perhaps a very successful professional monitor, it is expensive, very expensive. Too expensive for many professionals even. That being said, a more affordable version could be coming soon.

Apple reportedly working on a more affordable monitor than its Pro Display XDR

The Apple Pro Display XDR costs a small fortune, and that’s saying something. But this is a monitor intended for professionals who would fully appreciate such features, unlike “classic” individuals who would simply be looking for a new screen. This does not mean that a less expensive model would not be appreciated. And that is precisely what could happen, if the rumors are true at least.

A successor to the late Thunderbolt?

Indeed, according to a new report from Bloomberg, the Cupertino company is currently working on the design of a more affordable monitor for its customers. This monitor would be more of a successor to the Apple Thunderbolt screen that the brand stopped selling in 2016. This means that, in terms of price, the accessory could be offered around $ 1,000. Or at least that’s what we hope for.

The report also states that this new benchmark would be intended more for private customers than for professionals. Its brightness and contrast ratio should also be different from what the Pro Display XDR offers. This doesn’t mean that this will be a bad screen, of course, just that it will be much more “ordinary”, quite similar to what can be offered from many other manufacturers. Contrary therefore to equipment specially designed and optimized for photo and / or video.

The bad news, however, is that the Bloomberg report also claims that this monitor is only in its early stages of development. In other words, it is quite possible that it will not be formalized this year. You will have to be patient if you are interested.
