The sequel to the movie ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy & Lavagirl’ (aka, ‘The Adventures of the Shark Boy and the Fire Girl’) is just around the corner after 15 years. However, Taylor Lautner fans aren’t taking this news like a charm.

The new film, titled ‘We Can Be Heroes,’ sees the return of Dooley as Lavagirl, whose character shares a daughter (played by Vivien Lyra Blair ) with Sharkboy. Except, as the poster shows, Sharkboy looks a little different this time, as the 28-year-old actor has been replaced by JJ Dashnaw .
It’s unclear why, exactly, Lautner didn’t return to the franchise, but one thing is obvious: fans aren’t happy with the new Sharkboy (we’re guessing it will now be Sharkman).
Shortly after the news was announced, Lautner’s name started trending on Twitter:
“WHO IS THAT SHARKBOY IMPOSTOR WHERE IS TAYLOR LAUTNER?” Asked a fan on Twitter emphatically.
While Lautner’s absence is certainly sad for fans, the film features many other new characters played by renowned actors including: Pedro Pascal, Christian Slater, Boyd Holbrook, and Priyanka Chopra-Jonas .
The plot of the film follows a team of superheroes, but they all have children who are just discovering their powers. However, they will have to save their parents and Earth from the alien invaders, according to IMDb.
‘We Can Be Heroes’ will hit Netflix on New Year’s Day.
