This Tuesday and Wednesday the matches that defined the last classified to the quarterfinals of the Champions League were played. The qualifiers are Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Benfica, Atlético de Madrid, Chelsea and Villarreal.

The draw for the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final (it determines which team will be ‘home’) of the Champions League will be on Friday 18th March at 7am Miami, 12pm CET.

The draw will take place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. It is open: there are no seeds. Teams from the same country could face each other.

This week the visitors were the winners in the second leg.

This Wednesday Villarreal gave the surprise by thrashing Juventus in Turin 3-0 (the overall score was 4-1 in favor of the Spanish). Chelsea, meanwhile, met expectations by defeating Lille 1-2, also as a visitor, for a 4-1 aggregate in favor of the English.

On Tuesday, Atleti eliminated Manchester United after a 0-1 victory in England thanks to Lodi’s goal, and they were 2-1 in favor of the mattress team on aggregate after drawing in the first leg.

Benfica took out Ajax also with a 0-1 away win with a goal by Nunez. The aggregate was 3-2 in favor of the Portuguese.

The final will be played at Stade de France, Paris. Originally it was going to be in the Krestovsky stadium in Saint Petersburg, sponsored by the Russian state company Gazprom, but due to the war in Ukraine the venue was changed.
