Deportivo returned to training in Abegondo on Wednesday after the rest day that the squad had yesterday. The last session of the blue and white was on Monday morning, when Fernando Vidal was still president. Hours after the work session, the departure of the current board of directors decreed by Abanca and the arrival to the presidency of Antonio Couceiro and his team was announced.
The surprise this morning was to see how before starting training Fernando Vidal went to Abegondo facilities. The former sports president wanted to visit the team and the coaching staff to say goodbye in person after the events of last Monday. Thus, Vidal visited the changing room and even Keko Gontán’s press conference scheduled for 10:00 am was delayed due to the unexpected visit.
Fernando Vidal did not come to Abegondo alone. He did so in the company of one of his advisers, such as Ricardo González and José Luis Queijeiro, and of Juan Carlos Cebrián. The businessman, linked from the beginning to Vidal’s project, has been present during the 13 months of his mandate, although he never held any position officially. His presence has always been controversial and even Vidal pointed out in his farewell that his relationship with Cebrián and Lendoiro was one of the reasons for Abanca’s decision to remove him from the presidency.
