Houston (USA), Jan 23- The search process for a new head coach continues within the Houston Texans franchise with interviews with quarterback Josh McCown and Jim Caldwell, according to to the information offered by the team.

Houston signed the 41-year-old McCown to a two-season deal on Nov. 4 from the Philadelphia Eagles training team, joining the active roster alongside Deshaun Watson and AJ McCarron.
Caldwell, 66, was recently hired as an assistant with the Miami Dolphins in 2019, but had to leave the team before the season to resolve his health issues. He was 36-30, including the playoffs, as the head coach of the Detroit Lions (2014-17) and 28-24 as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts (2009-11).
McCown retired in 2019 after 17 years in the NFL and took a job as a quarterback coach at a high school in Charlotte, North Carolina, where his sons played. He continued as coach after retiring and signing with the Eagles in 2019.
McCown played three games that season, including a wild-card loss to the Seattle Seahawks after Carson Wentz left in the first quarter with a concussion.
When McCown signed with the Texans, he was asked if he expected to be a coach in the future.
“I think so, if you had asked me that 10 years ago I would have said no, that’s not what I want to do at this level. My dream coming out of college if I couldn’t play in the NFL was to coach in a school here in Texas, but now everything is different.”
The team announced earlier in the week that it had interviewed Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier; Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy; Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus and Baltimore Ravens assistant coach David Culley.
