Andrey Rublev (8th in the world) had no mercy against the 39-year-old Spanish veteran Feliciano López (65th) and defeated him in 1h32 7-5, 6-2, 6-3, on Saturday in the third round of the Australia Open.

The Russian, who has not lost a set since the start of the tournament, will face Norway’s Casper Ruud (28th) for a place in the quarterfinals.

With 23 years, Rublev thus equals his best time in Melbourne, where he already reached the round of 16 last year.
