Rafael Nadal qualifies for the second round of the Australian Open

The Spanish Rafael Nadal, world number two, qualified for the return of the Australian Tennis Open that takes place in Melbourne, after easily defeating Serbian Laslo Djere on Tuesday in three sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 .

The Spanish Feliciano López also went to the second round, after winning over Li Tu (AUS) 6-7 (1/7), 6-4, 7-6 (7/4), 6-4, and Pablo Andújar, who beat Quentin Halys (FRA) 6-4, 7-5, 7-5.

In addition, the Spanish Carlos Alcáraz beat the Dutch Botic van de Zandschulp 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

 

Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas beat Italian Andreas Seppi 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 and Brazilian Thiago Monteiro beat Swede Andrej Martin 7-6 (8/6), 6-1, 6-2 .

On the other hand, the Spanish Roberto Bautista (N.12) and the Argentine Guido Pella (ARG) were eliminated.

In the women’s competition, Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska eliminated the American Christina McHale 6-4, 6-4 and the Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza (N.14) the Russian Margarita Gasparyan 6-4, 6-0.
