Nuno Mendes signed a four-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain after the Ligue 1 club executed the purchase option available to him.
The Portuguese left-back joined on loan from Sporting CP last year, where he had been the latest signing in a busy transfer window; Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos had been other players who joined.
While the Argentine and Spaniard failed to perform to the level expected in their debut seasons in France, Mendes featured consistently in Mauricio Pochettino’s scheme.
The young Portuguese, 19 years old, recorded 37 games in all competitions, including 27 in the French league (18 as a starter), created 19 goal opportunities, provided an assist and thus collaborated with the title in the Gallic championship.
Mendes will now have the opportunity to consolidate after PSG gave a sign of confidence with the final purchase. According to him it transpired, the signing of him took place for a payment close to 40 million euros.
