Paco Díez won the majority three weeks ago for a second term at the head of the Real Madrid Football Federation (RFFM) after the elections for members of the General Assembly, in which his candidacy obtained more support than those of Miguel Galán, president of CENAFE Escuelas, and Jesús Díaz Peramos, president of the Madrid Football Defense Association (ADFM).

But the waters do not calm in the Madrid Federation. Paco Díez denounced the attitude of Miguel Ángel Galán: “Yesterday, there was an unusual, shameful event, which irremediably alters the functioning of the Royal Football Federation of Madrid and notably damages all federation, and whose sole responsibility is Miguel Ángel Galán Castellanos who, in his unreasonableness of not accepting the results of the polls and not recognizing the will of Madrid football, wants to prevent the holding of elections to the Presidency and to the RFFM delegate commission”.

The president of the Madrid Federation regrets that the resignation of the secretary of the Electoral Board, Sergio Barragán, has led to the inauguration, in his replacement, of the first substitute Conrado Galán Castellanos, brother of Miguel Ángel Galán Castellanos.

“And without delay, the first decision that has been taken with the votes in favor of the secretary, Conrado Galán, and the member, Daniel Guardado, and the vote against the president, Carlos Niño, has been not approving the call for the election of the President and Delegate Commission of the RFFM. The President of the Electoral Board if he votes in favor of the call for elections of President and Delegate Commission and its calendar, since it does not have any order from the Legal Sports Commission against it”, explains in the statement.

Galán, for his part, has responded to that statement also on social networks: “I imagine that when you file a complaint for insults and slander you will reaffirm your defamations. I will not be so bad when you proposed me to be Vice President of Transparency and good Government, and if I won I would demand that your son be first vice president.”

Galán’s statement

Galán made this announcement in a statement, in which he denied Díez’s accusations for his attitude to delay his re-election, with complaints to the Legal Commission of Sports of the Community of Madrid and the presence of his brother in the electoral board that does not approve the convocation of the Assembly to vote his re-election.

“If today we do not have a president, it is the sole and exclusive responsibility of Paco Díez. He should have called the elections in October 2020, but it turns out that he was, according to him, disqualified and could not stand for election, so using tricks he managed to delay the electoral process for 2 and a half months,” said the president of CENAFE Escuelas (National Center for Training of Trainers).

Díez fulfilled at the end of last year the two months of disqualification that the Administrative Court of Sports (TAD) imposed on him, like 15 other territorial presidents, for supporting Ángel María Villar in a letter in 2017, before his re-election.

Galán considered that “knowing in what state his disqualification is found”, as requested by the electoral board before convening the assembly, “will guarantee, even more if possible, his access as an elected candidate”, and questioned both the electoral system of the Federation of Madrid for “unfair” as the only “economic reasons for Díez to continue in office.”
