Jorge Mateo homered twice and drove in five runs for the Baltimore Orioles , who beat the Texas Rangers 8-2 on Tuesday.

As ninth in the batting order, Mateo set career highs for a single game in home runs and RBIs. He has 10 homers and 32 RBIs this season.

Texas starter Spencer Howard (2-3) retired the first six Baltimore batters.

Howard hit Ramon Urias with a pitch in the first of the third inning and walked rookie Terrin Vavra before giving Mateo his first homer of the game on a 0-2 count.
