Olympic champion Marco Fabián, midfielder for Mexico’s Juárez, assured this Saturday that at age 31 he is not interested in scoring goals because his obsession is to sacrifice himself in favor of his team.
“I have the goal in my head in every game, but I try to contribute to the fixed tactic. My obsession is for the team to win, not to score. We have played well, although we need more depth, more forcefulness and that is what we have worked on” he told GLM.
Fabian was the bombastic signing of the Bravos de Juárez in 2020 after signing him, from Al Sadd in Qatar. Previously, he had gone through the Philadelphia Union of the MLS and the German Eintracht Frankfurt.
Fabián explained that he understands his role as team leader due to his condition as an international player, however the Braves have had problems defining because they have not accompanied Paraguayan forward Darío Lezcano.
“Maybe we need to accompany Lezcano more in the attack. We want to score and with what we work, the goals will come,” he added.
The Mexican player, champion of the Copa Mx with Chivas in 2015, said that one of his dreams is to finish his career with the Guadalajara team, although now his mind is set on Juárez.
“I work to get to play for many years. If I could write the script for my career, I would love to be in Chivas for my retirement, it would be a privilege to wear that shirt again. Today I am in Juárez because I came to this city wanting to make history , the future will be accommodating, “he added.
Part of the team that won the gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Fabian emigrated to play German soccer with Eintracht Frankfurt with whom he won the German Cup in 2018. In 2014 and 2018 he played with Mexico the World Cups in Brazil and Russia.
“He described my career as good, especially in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt because we achieved a cup that the team had not won in years. With Chivas I also got a cup, with Cruz Azul a Concacaf cup, that is, all those things did me. mature and grow as a person, so I feel at a spectacular age to succeed in Mexico,” he concluded.
