LOS ANGELES, California.- The LA Galaxy are back in the MLS playoffs , after drawing with Real Salt Lake , but Javier Chicharito Hernández could not be the protagonist of the match as he would have liked.
The Mexican is fifth in the scorers table, with 17 goals, but he could not increase his quota in this duel despite the fact that there were two penalties in favor of the Los Angeles club.
The first occurred in the initial stretch of the game and the Spanish Riqui Puig missed his shot; later it was Salt Lake that opened the scoring and already in the second half a foul on Hernández ended in a second penalty for the Californian team.
Many thought that Javier would collect it, but it was Douglas Costa who made it 1-1 for the Galaxy, a clear sign that the Mexican lost the confidence of his coach Greg Vanney.
Weeks ago, Hernández took a Panenka-style penalty and missed it, a few days later he again missed a shot from 12 steps, so the Galaxy trust their striker, but not so much that he keeps taking penalties, at least for now .
