The future of the footballer between FIFA and Fortnite
The agent of the famous German footballer talked about his client’s future after football: according to him, Mesut Ozil could look to esports.
Mesut Ozil is a German professional footballer who has played in teams such as Schalke 04, Real Madrid e Arsenal as an attacking midfielder. Currently Ozil is under contract with the Fenerbahce team of the Super League turca; however, the winner of the world Cup he is not part of the first team due to disciplinary problems. With an unlikely return to high-level competitions in the short term, Ozil and his team look to the future.
The Future of Mesut Ozil
Yesterday, the midfielder’s agent, Dr. Erkut Sogut gave an interview to The Telegraph in which he stated that his client has a good chance of entering the esports industry after his retirement from football. Sogut he has declared: “He will focus more on esports, play in first person and maybe become an esports athlete”before adding: “I wouldn’t be surprised if he competed [in Fortnite]”in a statement that may anger supporters of theArsenal. Before Ozil left the London club, some critics have suggested that his performance decline was due to spending too much time playing.
Ozil already owns an esports organization called M10 Esports whose co-owner and CEO is his brother Happy Ozil. M10 Esports was founded by Mesut Ozil in the 2018 and is an organization focused primarily on FIFA e Fortnite. Although the organization no longer has players competing in competitions FIFA from the beginning of November 2020 there are still some active streamers on Twitch which broadcast under the banner of M10. Sogut however, he did not provide further details on his client’s plans for the future in the world of esports.
