American pitcher Matt Pobereyko, who had been part of the Mexican National Team that played in the 2023 Caribbean Series in Caracas, Venezuela, died this Saturday at the age of 31.
His team, the Algodoneros de Guasave, were the first to confirm the information with the following message:
“With the consternation and surprise that this sad news causes us, all the staff of the Algodoneros de Guasave Baseball Club unite to raise prayers for the eternal rest of our teammate Matt Pobereyko. Rest in peace King of the Punch!”, expressed the team.
Pobereyko was one of the main players of the Mexican team in the last edition of the Caribbean Series, where they finished third.
Pobereyko had participation in the Dominican Baseball League with the Estrellas Orientales in the 2021-2022 season.
