Manchester City and Borussia Mönchengladbach will meet in Hungary for the second time next week due to coronavirus restrictions, UEFA announced on Wednesday.
The second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie was transferred from Manchester to the Puskas Arena in Budapest, which also hosted the first leg. City took a 2-0 lead.
Border restrictions imposed in Germany during the pandemic prevented City from visiting Gladbach in the first leg. The players and staff of the German club would have had to serve a quarantine upon returning to the country after a stay in England.
The Puskas Arena in the Hungarian capital – one of the venues for the Euro Cup this year – has become a neutral stage for UEFA during the pandemic. It will also host the two matches of the Liverpool-Leipzig crossroads in the knockout stage of the Champions League.
Atlético de Madrid played home to Chelsea in Romania last month, also due to travel restrictions, which means that five of the 16 matches in the round of 16 stage of the tournament have been or will be played on neutral courts.
