Ferrari dominated free practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring circuit , which is located just outside Budapest.

Carlos Sainz (1:18:750) was the fastest in the first session, while his teammate Charles Leclerc set the fastest time of the day (1:18:445) and took first place in the second session.

Beyond the great day that the Italian team had, it is worth noting what McLaren did, which enjoyed its best performance in practice so far in the 2022 season.

It’s that Lando Norris finished fourth in the first session, and then finished just behind Leclerc in the second session with a time of 1:18:662. In addition, Daniel Ricciardo also managed to sneak into the top-5 in FP2.

Max Verstappen, current leader of the Formula 1 World Championship, was second in FP1 and fourth in FP2. Fernando Alonso, for his part, finished in sixth position in FP2.

Lastly, it should be noted that Mercedes disappointed as both George Russell and Lewis Hamilton fell short of the top-5. Both drivers will try to improve in Saturday’s classification, for which storms are expected.
