Pep Guardiola has explained why he did not sign Edinson Cavani last summer when he was a free agent, something that eventually brought him to the city’s biggest rival, Manchester United.
Despite his 34 years, the former PSG player is showing at Old Trafford that he is still a first-rate striker and has already scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists at the command of Solskjaer.
“We have Gabriel Jesús and at that moment we were waiting for Agüero to return. Ferrán Torres can also play in the forward position very well” said the blues manager when asked why he didn’t go for the Cavani option.
Of course, the coach admitted his admiration for the Uruguayan forward, despite not hiring him: “He is a player I admire a lot. I like that a player spends his entire career playing in many countries and he is doing well. It’s Manchester United. It is a privilege to compete with them, to be in front of them”.
