The president of Elche, Joaquín Buitrago, stated this Wednesday that the Elche club is not aware of Villarreal’s possible interest in the Colombian international Johan Mojica, so he has the full-back for this season.

“Nothing has come to Elche. News and rumors have been emerging during the summer, but nothing has been finalized and Johan is going to remain in our team. We do not expect him to leave, ”said the leader to the media during the club’s offering to the Patron Saint of the city, the Virgin of the Assumption, in the Basilica of Santa María.

Questioned about the possibility that Villarreal or any other team pay the player’s termination clause, of 5.5 million euros, the president indicated that this option is something that “is part of the rules of the game of LaLiga”.

“There are termination clauses and nobody is free for a club to come, reach an agreement with the player and pay that clause. We have to be prepared for any situation”, said the president of Elche, who admitted that in this situation they would talk to the player to try to retain him.

Buitrago assured that he did not fear that the possible departure of Mojica reaches the limit of the closing of the market and without time to react, since he recalled that the club was far-sighted “and we have that planned contingency.”

“We have Carlos Clerc (signing from Levante), who fulfills the functions and also the option of incorporating Lautaro Blanco, who is scheduled to arrive from January,” he recalled.
