The Houston Texans head coach David Culley believes his offense wouldn’t work, even if he used the legendary San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

After starting the season with a surprise victory and statements from their players pointing out that they were up for great things, the Houston Texans were shut out 40-0 by the Buffalo Bills and head coach David Culley divided the responsibility among his entire offense .

“It’s not just David Mills, it’s everyone around him. Nobody played well. We could place Joe Montana and the way we play we wouldn’t be successful , ”the head coach told Vanessa Richardson of KPRC 2 Houston.

Mills , a rookie drafted in the third round of the most recent NFL Draft, had the worst performance of his fledgling professional career. The quarterback had four interceptions, was sacked three times and just completed 11 of 21 pitches for 87 yards .

In all, the offense generated just 109 yards, the third-fewest in franchise history, and suffered five turnovers, interceptions by Mills and a fumble from tight end Jordan Akins.

Penalties

The Texans committed 10 penalties during the game against the Bills and were penalized with 100 yards and Culley is aware of how the penalties affected the development of the game.

“We started the game with a punishment that delayed us. We went from first and 10 to first and 20. All because of the penalties. We just have to play better, ”Culley explained.
