The Chinese Wenwen Li and the Uzbek Ruslan Nurudinov each won three golds on the penultimate day of the World Weightlifting Championship that takes place in Bogotá, a day in which Colombia won another two bronze medals this Thursday with Rafael Cerro.

The Chinese Wenwen Li confirmed that she is the best in the +87 kilos category by winning the three golds in that division. The Asian, gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, was the best Olympic total with 311 kilos, 24 more than Emily Campbell, from Great Britain (287), who took silver.

Third place and the bronze medal went to the Thai Duangaksorn Chaidee, who weighed 286 kilos.

Li’s supremacy extended to the snatch in which she gained 141 kilos, 14 more than American Sara Robles and 15 more than Chaidee.

Where Li had the least advantage was in the clean and jerk, a specialty that she dominated anyway with 170 kilos, followed by Campbell (165) and Chaidde (160), silver and bronze respectively.

Li adds these golds to the one she won at the World Cup in Thailand in 2019 and confirms herself as the best in this weightlifting division.

The gold in the snatch (177 kilos), in the clean and jerk (220) and in the Olympic total (397) went to the Uzbek Ruslan Nurudinov.

Cerro, who competes in the 109 kilograms, achieved bronze in the clean and jerk by climbing 214 kilos on the crowbar, while in the Olympic total he made 388.

With these medals Colombia reached 24 discs, of which 3 are gold, 5 silver and 16 bronze.

The Ecuadorian Lisseth Ayoví was seventh in the snatch (120 kilos), sixth in the clean and jerk (155 kilos), while in the Olympic total she was seventh (275).

On her side, the Dominican Crismery Santana placed ninth (116 kilos) in the snatch and tenth in the Olympic total (257 kilos).

The World Cup closes the competitions this Friday with the men’s final at +109 kilograms.
