The kazajo returns to the fighting after an inactivity that extended from last year
One of the stars is back. Gennady Gennádievich Golovkin will step back into the ring for a stellar day. The Kazakh (41-1-1) will face Ryota Murata (16-2, 13 KOs) on December 28 in the land of the rising sun in a match that will make DAZN official in a short period of time.
According to Mike Coppinger, a journalist specialized in MMA, it has been a fight for unification with a job of several months. Golovkin, who has only been in two bouts in two years, has been down for a long time waiting to close out the trilogy against Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez.
In his last fights, ‘GGG’ earned a close win over Sergiy Derevyachenko for the IBF middleweight belt . He subsequently defended him against Szeremeta in December 2020.
For his part, Murata has a similar staging. In his last bout, the Japanese middleweight bounced back with a 5th round TKO against Canadian Steven Butler in Yokohama. The victory in 2019 served to retain his second WBA world championship.
The fight with Golovkin will serve to move away the potential trilogy against ‘Canelo’. The previous two ended in a draw, while in the second battle the Mexican won with a victory by decision of the judges. Since that day, the Kazakh seeks to tie the scores with his great rival. His loss to Álvarez is the only one of his career.
