The Billie Jean King Cup, the former Federation Cup, has been delayed to the end of the year due to the covid pandemic. The tournament of selections, which tIt was scheduled to be held between April 13 and 18 in Budapest It has been postponed to the end of the year, without a specific date, as confirmed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF, for its acronym) in a statement.
The tournament, which changed its format to adapt to the new times as the Davis Cup did, had to be suspended in 2020. “Work has been carried out with the health authorities to prepare the tournament for April and different scenarios have been taken into account such as being able to play behind closed doors. However, due to the uncertainty that still exists about the virus, it is impossible to celebrate a world team competition of this scale, indoors, in Budapest on those dates, “said the ITF.
The International Tennis Federation and the Hungarian National Sports Agency have announced that the Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas Finals, due to take place on 13-18 April 2021, will be rescheduled to later dates in 2021.

This competition will bring together twelve teams, including Spain, who will fight for a week to become world champions, with a total of more than 60 athletes, plus coaching staff, referees and workers. “The decision to postpone the competition is to protect the health and safety of all participants,” added the ITF.
