The Athletic board began to negotiate with the staff a second salary reduction, after the one agreed last year by six percent, and has achieved the white smoke today, three days before the important Extraordinary Assembly of Committees that must approve the accounts by Elizegi.
The remuneration of the players will be lowered with a fixed 8.43 percent of the established amounts and that amount can be increased to 10.26 percent depending on certain variable circumstances that may occur.

The negotiations started two months ago. Previously, there was a cut of the 6 percent, which meant 4.5 million in savings, now it reaches 8 million.
Athletic is the first club to reach two salary cuts in this tough stage in football world. Barça reached it but with deferred payments. Athletic adds 42 million accumulated deficit between last season and the current one. The board has proposed not to charge the fees for 2021, which will increase the red numbers to €7.4M.
