This new edition of the French Super Cup will be very special. The Trophée des Champions is held again in Gallic lands for the first time since 2008. From that year, it was decided that it would be played abroad, but the pandemic has forced the tournament to return home. What does not change is the format: a single game and on a neutral field. The Stade Bollaert-Delelis, home of Lens, will be the scene of the meeting.
This title, held annually, pits the Ligue 1 champion and the French Cup champion. In this edition, due to the double of Paris Saint Germain, Olympique de Marseille will play as runner-up in the League.
As for the record, once again PSG extends its monopoly. The capital team is the one that has won the Super Cup the most times, it has done it up to nine times. All of them under the nomenclature of Trophée des Champions, which was coined in 1995.
