The suspect of disseminating photos of Marília Mendonça, Cristiano Araújo and Gabriel Diniz after death was arrested this Monday (17), in Santa Maria, in the Federal District. According to the Civil Police, the young man, 22 years old, used a social network to propagate images of the artists.
Investigations indicate that the images were obtained illegally and distributed indiscriminately on the Internet. The arrest was made by the Special Police Department for Repression of Cyber Crimes (DRCC), during an operation to suppress crimes committed on the internet. The suspect’s name was not released.
The action is part of an investigation conducted by Operation Fenrir, which aims to identify profile administrators on social networks that released and shared photos and videos of the body of artists made for the expert report at the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML). According to the Civil Police, the suspect confessed to the crime and is now at the disposal of Justice, awaiting a custody hearing.
In Brazil, the penalty for anyone committing the crime of corpse vilification is imprisonment for one to three years and payment of a fine, as provided in art. 212 of the Penal Code.

Last Thursday (13), the press office of Marília Mendonça informed that there was a leak of photos from the police investigation that investigated her death. The singer died November 2021, after a plane crash in Minas Gerais.
The lawyer who represents the family, Robson Cunha, said he was outraged with the leaked material and said it is “inconceivable that exclusive documents from a police investigation that runs in secrecy and with access restrictions have been released in an irresponsible, inhumane and criminal way.
He also said that, since the singer’s death, he has worked tirelessly to prevent this kind of situation from happening. The lawyer also said that the State is responsible for guarding and protecting this information.
The singer Marília Mendonça and four other people died on the afternoon of November 5, 2021 after a small plane crashed near a waterfall in the mountains of Caratinga, in the interior of Minas Gerais.

Singer Gabriel Diniz, known for the hit “Jenifer,” died on May 27, 2019, at the age of 28, in the crash of a small plane in the village of Porto do Mato, in Estância, in the southern region of Sergipe. The night before, the artist had performed a concert in Feira de Santana (BA). The singer was on his way to meet his family to celebrate the birthday of his girlfriend, Caroline Calheiros.
