The garment designed by Elizabeth and David Emanuel, it has a fitted bodice overlaid in the center, both front and back, paneled in antique Carrickmacross lace that originally belonged to Queen Mary, great-grandmother of Prince Charles.
The dress, with puffed sleeves adorned with taffeta bows and ruffles, a style popularized by Diana in the early eighties, will be the star of an exhibition that will open on June 3 at Kensington Palace dedicated to the fashion of the royal family, according to a statement from the organization.
The exhibition ‘Royal Style in the Making’ will run until January 2022 in the recently restored Baroque conservatory in Kensington Gardens, where the relationship between the fashion designer and the royal client will be explored through unpublished objects from the archives of some of the most famous royal couturiers of the 20th century.
