Early career
With a degree in journalism from PUC-RS, Patrícia Poeta began her career in Rio Grande do Sul, her home state. There, she worked for a year as a reporter and presenter at TV Bandeirantes in Porto Alegre. In 2000, she went to TV Globo in São Paulo to showcase her work. A month later, she took over as weather presenter. She then worked on the SPTV 2nd edition and did reports. On Saturdays, she presented Jornal Hoje. In 2003, she moved to New York and began working as a correspondent for Rede Globo news programs and Globo Internacional programs.
Patricia Poeta has also presented Jornal Nacional
Before joining Globo entertainment, Patrícia Poeta presented Jornal Nacional for almost three years with William Bonner. After leaving the newscast, she took over the program “É de Casa”, from 2015 to 2022, Ana Maria Braga’s absences on Mais Você, 2017 to 2020, and replaced Fátima Bernardes on “Encontro com Fátima Bernardes”, from 2018 to 2022. She then took over the program, which was renamed “Encontro com Patrícia Poeta”.
In 2020, in an interview with Quem magazine, Patrícia explained her reasons for opting for the change. “It was an old desire – ever since my time as a correspondent in New York, I confess. It was a great start in entertainment. It was a departure from the hard news of the Jornal Nacional, directly into the field of entertainment and with a different format and language. It was a new challenge in my career,” she said.
