Due to public demand, the program was moved to the morning slot, however, the popularity of the program declined and after four years of broadcasting it went off the air.

Nino Canún’s name sounded again in Mexico after the communicator thanked the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, in the morning of January 29, 2019. The journalist appeared at the morning conference and claimed to have been vetoed by Enrique Peña Nieto and Luis Videgaray.

Explaining that former President Peña Nieto had come to his home to tell him to be the next director of Social Communication, to Canún’s refusal, the former president only answered “A president of the Republic is never told no”, commented the host of the program “Y usted ¿Qué Opina?”. He added that after that meeting, he never heard from any of them again and was vetoed.

According to Nino’s comments, it was not until AMLO became president that “the doors were opened, freedom of expression ended with the gag law and I am very grateful to the President of the Republic”. His thanks and explanation lasted about 20 minutes.

For his part, President Andrés Manuel added that he found it interesting to speak freely and frankly, because that “is communication, without censorship, congratulations for returning”. And he added that it was thanks to the will of the citizens that they decided to bring about a change in the country, because it was thanks to their vote for a real change. However, Nino Canún replied that it was thanks to the constitutional president, and not to the people of Mexico, that he had returned to work.

The journalist has not returned to television or radio, he has not repeated his well-known phrase “Aguántame el corte” since the last millennium, however, he continues to provide information through his YouTube channel, where he has more than 150 thousand followers. He broadcasts daily and remains active on his Facebook page and Twitter, mainly touching on political issues.
